Large corner mansion with gardens front and back was built circa 1884 by wealthy attorney and landowner David Bixler. Four story windmill and water tank on Union. Chapel at left was built in 1887 with funds provided by Stephen S. Smith, deacon of the Plymouth Congregational Church and publisher of the Pacific. Aquatic Park

The derelict riverboat 'Fort Sutter' beached at east end of Aquatic Park. Coit Tower, Telegraph Hill in the background. View from the Municipal Pier. Entrepreneur Barney Gould purchased the old riverboat and brought it to Aquatic Park in February 1953 with hopes to convert it into a showboat. It was beached at the east end of Aquatic Park near the rowing clubs. The boat was later moved to west end of beach where it burned on May 1, 1959.
