Financial DistrictElevated view northwest across Sutter St. toward temple Emanu-el. Building on right, at northwest corner of Sutter & Stockton was the mansion of pioneer physician Augustus J. Bowie until 1871, when it was converted to a theatre and beer garden, the Vienna Garden. It was demolished in 1892. Also the home of Judge Burritt and banker Lucien Herman. Plank sidewalks.
