As described by the Daily Alta California: "[Native Sons of the Golden West] Mt. Tamalpais Parlor, No. 64, of San Rafael, had an old wagon - drawn by two oxen, such as was used by emigrants on the plains forty years ago. It was an ancient-looking affair and was weather-beaten and torn. Out of the split in the canvas in front there occasionally appeared the head and face of a woman having in her mouth an old, clay pipe. The members had a handsome banner and wore white hats and white jackets."
