Visible in the frame is the Grant Cafe, Western States Importing Company, and Eddie Pond's Kubla Kahn Theater Restaurant, promoted as San Francisco's Most Exciting Chinese Theater Restaurant in 1946. Astoria Hotel sign at left. Lucky Lager and Coca Cola delivery trucks. Within the Chinatown Historic District on the National Register.
ChinatownView northeast across 9th to Webb's Sandwich Shop, at 633 9th Street between Brannan and Division. This was an industrial area crisscrossed with railroad tracks prior to the construction of the Central Freeway and the extension of the Bay Bridge Approach. In the background is the tower of paper company, Blake, Moffitt and Towne, the building now known as 888 Brannan (Built as the National Carbon Building).

Before construction of the 24th & Mission Bart Station, this site was home to Pat's Coffee Shop, Save-On Yardage, Golden State Linoleum, Sun Vacuum Stores (2806 Mission). Eastbound Muni 35-Line #13? at far right, in front of 1 and 3 story buildings that still stand in 2023..
MissionPompei's Sea Foods at 340 Jefferson Street. Opened Frank and Marian Pompei in 1946, the business later expanded at the same location and was renamed Pompei's Grotto. It permanently closed in 2022.
Fishermans Wharf3315 Irving St, between 34th and 35th Avenues. Built 1944. The garage has been converted into a delicatessen and coffee shop called Mocha
Sunset Outer11 Market Street. Army-Navy Surplus next to the Alameda Cafe, which was operated by Jacob Petersen & Son and advertised as A Standard Statement of Swift Lunch Service at the Ferry in 1915. To the right of these businesses is another cafeteria.
Financial DistrictView north across Geary at Mason to Harvey's Kitchen, Samon Hair Goods and Armand. Building still stands in 2021 with Jack In The Box restaurant at street level and Biscuits and Blues club in basement. (AS)
Tenderloin1298 Potrero Avenue at 25th Street is a concrete commercial structure, built 1947. This view is northwest across Potrero, to U-Toast-It Fountain Lunch Restaurant and Coffee Shop. Visible at right behind billboard is 1290 Potrero, the now-demolished Good Samaritan Community Center.
Potrero Hill2531 24th Street. Jack's Club, J. and E Restaurant and Florence's Cafe on 24th Street. J and E survives as a Chinese restaurant, and Jack's Club is still in business, albeit a few doors down from this location.
