Statue of standing Abraham Lincoln; Fifth St. near Market, in front of Lincoln School. Designed by architect William Craine, construction began in August, 1864 and was completed in July, 1865. This photo was taken after the unveiling of Pietro Mezzara's Abraham Lincoln statue in April, 1866.

PresidioView North at the west side of the 400 block of Montgomery Street toward Telegraph Hill. The four buildings shown on this block were all built by 1855. The four story building at left (three bays in width, with iron balconies) was LeCount and Strong's building, built in 1853, and famous then for having a front made of granite. The three story building at the SW corner of Montgomery and Sacramento was Thayer's Building, built in 1854 or 1855. The photographer R. H. Vance had his studio there in the 1850s. Across Sacramento Street is John Parrott's building (three stories), built in 1862. (WMK) Northbound horsecar is visible.
