This was the residence of the famous lithographers, Britton and Rey, at the southeast corner of Union and Taylor streets. They first built here in the 1850s, and this photo shows their residence as it was remodeled or rebuilt in the 1880s. In the background is a row of income flats they built on Green Street. The photographers were Runnels & Stateler, of 957 Market Street. (WMK)
