China Basin, wrecked auto being raised out of creek. 6th Street swing bridge on left. Derelict steamboat 'Capital City' in the background. The boat would partially sink in the creek in 1952, and would be wrecked and removed in 1958.

General Frisbie Steamer
'General Frisbie' steam ferry of the Monticello Steamship Co. (Vallejo-San Francisco line) with passengers. Clay Street Wharf. The General Frisbie, built in 1900, was a passenger ship used as a ferry between Vallejo and San Francisco. She was the fastest ship on the route at the time she was built and carried passengers until her retirement in 1920. [G810 SH-547] (GGNRA/Behrman GOGA 35346)

Aquatic Park
View east across Aquatic Park toward Hyde Street Pier. Derelict riverboat 'Fort Sutter' lies stranded on the beach near rowing clubs. Entrepreneur Barney Gould purchased the old riverboat and brought it to Aquatic Park in February 1953 with hopes to convert it into a showboat. It was later moved to west end of beach where it burned on May 1, 1959.
