Dolores HeightsView north across Market toward businesses on the site of today's Hyatt Regency Hotel. California Wire Works was established in 1852 and acquired by Andrew Hallidie in 1876. In 1895 Hallidie sold out to Washburn and Moen Company. This was Hallidie's business office, at 6 California St., and the manufacturing was in North Beach. H. P. Golden Gate Park, view northwest across Bowling Green Drive near Middle Drive (now Nancy Pelosi) toward the entrance to the Deer Glen (now the AIDS Memorial Grove). From at least the 1910's to the 1990's this was known as the De Laveaga Dell, named after settler and philanthropist Jose Vicente de Laveaga. who gave a monetary bequest for its development in the 1890's.

Golden Gate ParkAdmission Day Parade, 1925. Two horseback riders in Spanish costume: a girl wearing helmet and chainmail vest, and man wearing vaquero hat. The Parade (75th Anniversary of California's statehood) drew 650,000 spectators and took over 5 hours to complete.
