Western AdditionTaken from about Lyon and Broadway looking Northeast. The intersection of Broderick and Union is at center (2760-62 Broderick, southeast corner, still stands in 2019). Smokestack of United Railroads powerhouse visible at the right margin is in its original state. The top part broke off in the quake and was rebuilt with darker material, probably brick, giving it a two-tone look. URR completed the powerhouse in late 1902 or early 1903. House under construction at lower left.
