On the left is French General Henri Gouraud, who was in San Francisco in July 1923. He arrived on July 25th, on a national tour occasioned by the reunion, in Indiana, of the 'Rainbow Division', the 42nd Infantry Division which had fought with him in World War 1. The general lost his right arm in battle in 1915. The other officer in the car appears to be American, but unidentified. General Gouraud's party left for Yosemite that same evening.
