"Shoot the Chutes" ride was a boat ride that ended with a splash down in a pool. Boats were hauled through a tunnel, up an incline, then realsed down the other side. The ride was situated on the block between Balboa and Cabrillo.

Midway. The midway was an open area just north of Cabrillo. This photo dates from the war years based on the large numbers of sailors in uniform. The merry-go-round, Rock-o-Plane, and backside of the Coffee Shop are visible.
