View north toward Western Yeast & Vinegar Works (11th near Harrison); St. John's Church on right (?) Location is directly east of the end of the Ocean Shore railroad trestle onto 12th Street, in the vicinity of 11th & Bryant. The Ocean Shore Trestle was built in 1907 and removed in 1909, when the tracks were set at grade. St. Ignatius College on Van Ness is visible in the distance.

The train ferry Solano (1879-1930) departing her Port Costa slip with a passenger train for her last trip across the Carquinez Strait to Benicia. Farewell crowds and the press fill her deck. The Solano made her last trip on the same day the Benicia-Martinez Railroad Bridge opened. [2051-53]
