Market Street Extension, View north on newly paved Market Street at about 23rd Street. Second house at left center still stands at 3858 Market. In the 1960s, Market Street was further widened and was straightened at this location. The bend still exists as a turnout at the intersection with Argent Alley. North side of College Avenue between Mission & San Jose. 88, 86, 84 College Avenue prior to widening of the Bernal Cut / San Jose Avenue. The building on the right was moved 75 feet east and still stands in modified form as 121-123 College. South side Merritt Street, 73 Merritt at right. The 3000-block of Market Street was once Merritt, buildings on the south side of this block were moved about 20 feet back to accommodate the widened street. These houses sit directly in the middle of present Market Street where it veers south from Merritt. These buildings were either demolished or moved to parts unknown. [dpwbook32 dpw8526]

3037 Market near Hattie. Formerly the south side of Merritt Street, this row of buildings and other not pictured were moved about 20 feet south for the extension of Market Street.
