Civic CenterElevated view southwest across intersection to the Odd Fellows Hall, southwest corner of 7th and Market Streets, Wright and Sanders architects. A cornerstone-laying ceremony was held on May 14, 1884, and construction was completed in November, 1885. In this early view, R.J. Techau's Goodfellows Grotto in the basement appears to be just opening, with a stairway down from 7th Street and a "Family Entrance" accessed through the main entrance on Market. Corner retail space is still vacant. Castle Bakery (John Feyhl proprietor at far right, 1111 Market. Ennor Liquor Saloon on Market St. at lower right.
