Noe ValleyView north on Valencia toward 19th Street. J-Church Streetcar was diverted to Valencia for a few months in 1946 due to extensive sewer repair on 18th Street (which closed the normal J-Church route). During this time, the J-Church ran on the inside tracks on Market, which enabled it to turn onto Valencia. It ran on Valencia to Mission to 29th to Sanchez, essentially duplicating the by-then extinct 9-line. In this way Muni was able to serve the outer end of the J-Church route. Buildings in this view of the east side of the street are largely intact. (2019)
