Old Sonoma Adobe Barracks with Victorian facade (since removed), torn sign over entry. Building to right is Old Sonoma Mission, building to left is Toscana Hotel. Merchant Solomon Schocken purchased the Barracks from Mariano Vallejo and his wife Benicia in July, 1879. In May, 1879 he opened a general merchandise store there.
