Houses in the foreground are on the north side of Jackson Street, west of Taylor. The house at the near corner is 1401 Taylor. The house next to it, to the north, with the square cupola on top, is 1405 Taylor. It was built in 1868 and it still stands because it was moved in 1891 to 1033 Green Street, a block that survived the 1906 fire. The square cupola was removed when an unsightly third story was added.
