USS Bennington (Gunboat No. 4/PG-43) was a member of the Yorktown class of steel-hulled, twin-screw gunboats in the United States Navy in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. [USS Bennington] Probably taken in the channel between Mare Island and Vallejo.

Merchant Solomon Schocken purchased the Barracks from Mariano Vallejo and his wife Benicia in July, 1879. In May, 1879 he opened a general merchandise store there.

The U.C. Botanical Garden conservatory in Berkeley built by Lord and Burnham (the same firm that built the Conservatory of Flowers) in 1894. It was demolished when the campus expanded in the 1920s. This site is now a parking lot.
