Bernal HeightsView Northerly toward Potrero Hill. This segment of US101 (between Army/ Cesar Chavez Blvd. and Augusta Street, just south of Alemany Blvd.) was built between April 1949 & May 1951. Here, the roadbed has been graded & coated with oil (to keep the dust down?), but not yet paved, Summer/Fall 1949. This part of US101 was the first freeway section within the city limits of San Francisco. (TA)
