View across intersection toward southeast corner of Powell and O'Farrell. The Downtown Center Building at left was remodeled around 1960 from the Department Store Building, which itself was remodeled from the Avalon Hotel around 1953. It was built in 1909 as the Orpheum Annex Hotel, through 1921. (PF)
