McAllister & Leavenworth
Elevated view east on McAllister toward Leavenworth from the Hall of Records. Murphy Building (Prager's Department Store) at center. Cable Car crossing McAllister from Leavenworth to City Hall Avenue. (Notably missing is the Hibernia Bank building, an empty lot here.) The two houses in the middle of McAllister between Jones and Leavenworth are, from east to west, The Waldeck lodging house at number 26, and former county tax collector and Eighth Ward supervisor Charles R. Story, who lived there since 1865. Across Leavenworth Street is the New Record lodging house, built in 1872 by owner James Cosgrove.
