Pierce & Green
View northwest to Pierce between Green and Union, with Presidio, Fort Point, Marin Headlands, tidal slough and Golden Gate in Background, from Fillmore Street. Large corner mansion with gardens front and back was built circa 1884 by wealthy attorney and landowner David Bixler. Four story windmill and water tank on Union. Chapel at left was built in 1887 with funds provided by Stephen S. Smith, deacon of the Plymouth Congregational Church and publisher of the Pacific.
