View north across Market toward businesses on the site of today's Hyatt Regency Hotel. California Wire Works was established in 1852 and acquired by Andrew Hallidie in 1876. In 1895 Hallidie sold out to Washburn and Moen Company. This was Hallidie's business office, at 6 California St., and the manufacturing was in North Beach. H. P. Gregory & Co., dealers in machinery; F. & P. J.
