Market & Castro
January 1, 1910
View southwest from center of Market to Wulzen's Pharmacy. Building at right was moved around 1917 to make way for Twin Peaks Tunnel construction (or the extension of Market Street) a short distance to 3955 17th St, corner of Hartford, where it still stands.
from: Bill Kostura email: wkostura328@gmail.com message: Great photo of an important intersection. The building at right was not demolished but was moved (I think in 1917, to make way for Twin Peaks Tunnel construction, or for the extension of Market Street) a short distance to 3955 17th St, corner of Hartford, where it still stands. It was built in 1906-1907; architect August Nordin. The building at left was totally remodeled to become the Twin Peaks bar; I think it is now a City Landmark. Wulzen's Pharmacy was built in 1886. There is a great photo of it in Rodger Birt and Marvin Nathan's History's Anteroom, page 129.
