View southwest to J.L. Stuart Manufacturing Company, Canvas Goods, on southwest corner. Signs for close-out sale and moving to South San Francisco plant April 1958, also announcing 25 story office building to be built on the site. Tilden Sales Building and Board of Trade Building at left (Shaklee Terraces built 1979 on that site). Shell Building in background center. The building was sold in 1956, current 19 story building on site, 111 Pine, built 1963-1965. At right, 98 Battery Building (built 1907) still stands in 2022.

United Artists Theatre

Opened as the Imperial Theatre in 1912, renamed the Premier in 1929, then became the United Artists in May 1931, renamed again as the Market Street Cinema in 1972. 'Becket' playing, with large promotional ads above marquee. Market Street near 7th Street. Centre Theatre on left. Elite Coffee Shop, Frank's Jewelers.
