View north to 'New City Hall Square' sign on Pioneer (James Lick) Monument (in its original location), City Hall behind. City Hall Square (name changed to Marshall Square in December, 1902, now the corner of Grove and Hyde) [Leather Rose Album] In 1993, the monument was moved to the pedestrian mall on Fulton Street between the Asian Art Museum and the new Main Library. French-made cannon in front of monument was a Spanish-American war prize, presented by the Army in a ceremony on March 21, 1900. It is now in the Presidio.
