Hikers on the San Francisco Water Works flume, later Spring Valley Water Co. [Old Flume conveying water to the city from Mountain Lake {sic}] (Duplicate of wnp4.1462.jpg) The flume actually carried water from Lobos Creek to a pump station at the foot of Van Ness Avenue, then to reservoirs on Russian Hill.
