McAllister & Hyde
September 30, 1919
View north toward Hyde St. to long line of people waiting to get into Red Cross Civic Center office building, where U.S. Army Quartermaster had set up a store to sell surplus goods after WWI at steep discounts. This is probably opening day. Pioneer Motor Company, 305 Golden Gate Avenue. Hotel Iris, 293 Golden Gate Avenue in background. Most of what is in view was later demolished to construct Hastings College of the Law.
