Fleishhacker Pool

January 1, 1929

View looking south along Fleishhacker Pool. Girl posed on the fender of 1929 Marmon, Roosevelt Model. (Named for Theodore Roosevelt)

from: Tad Brillhart email: wmtadpole@lmi.net message: In checking on this image of the girl diving from a car, the car is a 1929 Marmon Roosevelt Model. The Roosevelt was produced in 1929 and 1930, and then became the Model 70 in the Marmon lineup for 1931. The Roosevelt Model was introduced in March, 1929, and was dedicated to Teddy Roosevelt, who died in 1919. You can just make out his image, which was in the piece at the top of the radiator. The name of the company and the engine type are on the plate at the front of the bumper - Roosevelt 8. It was famous at the time as the first Straight 8 automobile to sell for under $1000.
