Market & 10th

This was the entrance to the Panorama Building at 1331 Market Street, built in 1887. It led to a huge circular drum in the rear of the lot where 360 degree paintings of dramatic historical events were on view. The city had one other panorama building, at Eddy and Mason streets (WMK) Gettysburg panorama and museum. Civil War decorations all over. In 1896 the building became the Rambler Biclorama, an 'Elegant Riding Academy'.

Memorial Museum

Golden Gate Park. Egyptian-influenced museum building on Music Concourse. Originally constructed as the Fine Arts Building for 1894 Midwinter Fair, it was renamed Memorial Museum in 1895 and eventually became part of de Young Museum. Building at left was originally the Royal Bavarian Pavilion at the 1894 Fair. It was converted into an annex to the Memorial Museum. Sundial (by M. Earl Cummings) installed October 1907, unmounted cannon on lawn, Dore Vase, replacement sphinx.
