View north across Market toward the intersection of Drumm & California. California Wire Works and other businesses on the site of today's Hyatt Regency Hotel. California Wire Works was established in 1852 and acquired by Andrew Hallidie in 1876. In 1895 Hallidie sold out to Washburn and Moen Company. This was Hallidie's business office, at 6 California St., and the manufacturing was in North Beach. H. P. Gregory & Co., Pacific Machinery Depot; Berry & Place Machine Co.
