Golden Gate Park

People posing in Golden Gate Park in front of fence, ship Gjoa, and sign explaining the ship's northwest passage trip and arrival in San Francisco. Roald Amundsen's Gjoa was the first ship through the northwest passage in 1906. Donated to San Francisco, she was displayed at the west end of Golden Gate Park from 1909 to 1972, when she was returned to Norway.
