8th & Market. View northeast across Marshall Square to ruins of City Hall, Hall of Records & Pioneer Monument (Lick Monument). Henry Johnson & Son Imports, Modern Gas & Electric Company. In 1993, the monument was moved to the pedestrian mall on Fulton Street between the Asian Art Museum and the new Main Library. French-made cannon in front of monument at far right was a Spanish-American war prize, presented by the Army in a ceremony on March 21, 1900. It is now in the Presidio.
