North Beach, looking East from Russian Hill. Sailing ships at anchor, Yerba Buena Island in distance. Toland Medical College and Home for the Inebriate in distance center. The octagonal house at the left, one of five in the city, was built in 1859 for Arden Ellis, a laborer, at the NW corner of Lombard and Leavenworth. Same image as wnp24.428a, different cropping.
