Kearny & Geary

January 1, 1871

View to northwest corner, large Dr. Libbey dentist sign (Mark L. Libbey) with portrait on roof. Gold tooth (which may have inspired Frank Norris' use in 'McTeague') hanging from 2nd floor, George Finck jewelry, F. D. Ring (Frederick D. Ring) watches, jewelry and silverware on ground floor. Contra Costa Laundry Association delivery wagon at right, Wm. Monahan (real estate) at far left. This small lot was a holdout to larger buildings and is still evident on the corner in 2021. Cropped version of wnp37.00778-R, Watkins No. 1713 Title: Corner of Geary and Kearny streets, S.F.[N.W. cor Kearny - Geary St. 1867 (sic) SS-44] [F810 SS-044] (GGNRA/Behrman GOGA 35346)
