Eureka Valley
    View east on Pacific to Kissel Automobile. Sign on rear of car says 'Yosemite Valley in High Gear' and 'Kenyon Cord' (tires). In May, 1923, as a promotion, Kissel arranged for one of its Model 55 cars to be driven from Merced to Yosemite Valley with its transmission locked in high gear. In the car were Carl Borgen, driver, L.D. Whitehurst, San Francisco sales manager, and Charles H. Holdson, pilot. This photo is probably from a similar test in August when the same car was run over "the Pacific Avenue hill" in high gear.

Pacific Heights
    These two homes and the gas station on the corner of 2nd Avenue and Balboa Street have all been demolished for apartment buildings. In 1951 the basement of 26 Balboa, center, housed the Helene Hardin Theatrical Talent Agency.
Richmond Inner
    The Medical-Dental office building at 25th Avenue and Balboa was built in 1950. Note the billboard touting the new Westlake Shopping Center in Daly City: 'Free parking for 2700 cars!'
Richmond Outer
    In 1937, Rt. Rev. Fr. Archimandrite George Kodjic purchased this home at 281 Castro Street, which served as a missionary home and chapel for the St. John's Serbian Orthodox Cathedral. In 1945 he willed the building and his estate to the church.
Corona Heights
    Parkside Appliance, 922 Taraval Street, next door to Model Shoe Shop at 930 Taraval. All structures now demolished and replaced with a bank.
Parkside
    View east across Church Streeet to Gene Paridy's Chevron Service Station at 1749 Church Street, on the southeast corner of Day and Church. Replaced by a 4 unit apartment building in 1961. J-Church streetcar tracks in front.
Noe Valley
    1845 Chestnut, multi-family dwelling, built 1950.
Marina
    Frank Matthews' Mobilgas Station, 1800 Post Street, at the Northwest corner of Post and Webster. Every building in this view was demolished or moved during the redevelopment of the area.
Japantown
    View northeast across 3rd Street between Mission Rock and China Basin Streets. 1415 3rd St near South St. Tanks say McKales.
Mission Bay
    View northeast across 9th to Webb's Sandwich Shop, at 633 9th Street between Brannan and Division. This was an industrial area crisscrossed with railroad tracks prior to the construction of the Central Freeway and the extension of the Bay Bridge Approach. In the background is the tower of paper company, Blake, Moffitt and Towne, the building now known as 888 Brannan (Built as the National Carbon Building).
Showplace Square
    608 Howard Street. View north across Howard. This location has had many incarnations: as Dan McCarty's Livery Stable in 1884, as Indian Warehouse Supplies in 1916, and as home Nanco Incorporated in 1951.
