Salvotti's lunchroom at 1401 17th Street was built by Giuseppe ad Hilda Salvotti in 1907 from lumber salvaged in the 1906 earthquake. In 1975, their son, Jules, sold the family business which has been known as the Connecticut Yankee since 1989. It has operated as a workingman's saloon and restaurant for over 100 years.
