View northeast from 1st Street between Harrison and Bryant over rocky ground and broken foundations (site now under freeway approach to Bay Bridge) to a group of about 15 small cottages on the west side of Fremont St. At center, St. Brendan's Roman Catholic Church at the northeast corner of Fremont and Harrison, which replaced a larger St. Brendan's destroyed in the earthquake and fire of 1906.
