Golden Gate Park1906 Earthquake and Fire, Earthquake refugee camp with long Barracks. Likely Camp No. 5 at the Recreation Grounds (Big Rec). Camp 5 had the most barracks. Originally conceived as "'family apartments', with partitions between families, but open to the rafters. The noises could be heard and complained about from snoring adults and cranky kids. and the scheme abandoned and the space repurposed for storage, etc. (JF)
