Tenderloin1906 Earthquake and Fire, View west on Geary between Webster & Fillmore. People posed in the street with stoves and street kitchens, cable car tracks in the street. Ruins of Temple Beth Israel in the background. This is fairly soon after the earthquake, initially cooking was required as far as possible from buildings. Later street kitchens were allowed to move to the sidewalk. (JF) This area completely demolished in redevelopment.
