Sutro HeightsGroup of people gathered on the parapet alongside a large cannon. Statues atop the crenellations flank the group. The gun was an obsolete U.S. Navy 'Parrott Rifle' that Sutro purchased from a scrap dealer in 1896. There was a twin gun located further north on the parapet overlooking the Cliff House.
Sutro HeightsHouse moving crew on lunch break, view north towards Turk between Franklin and Van Ness. Building visible across street with arched windows and up on blocks is 770 Turk Street, moved to 1249-1251 Scott Street in November 1974. The house was built circa 1868 for John K. Wood. Oasis Motel visible through the block on Eddy Street.
