North BeachMan identified as P. A. Finigan with horse in street. Norfolk livery with Finigan's name on building behind. This was originally White's Stables when built in 1866. Finigan moved his stable there later that year and was there to 1874. From that point on, others ran it as a stable until the 1890s. In 1897, The Ramona, a hotel, was built on the site of the stable. Downtown / Union SquareWrecked South Sea Islanders on Cliff House Balcony. The British coal ship Respigadera went aground near San Pedro harbor on September 26, 1888. It had rescued a group of Gilbert Islanders before it was wrecked. In October, 1888, the islanders put on some swimming exhibitions at the Cliff House before leaving San Francisco.
