MissionItalianate Victorian at 1268 South Van Ness awaiting demolition. This house was demolished by the mid 1990s and a new building was built on this site in 1999. See wnp72.20212 for a later view once the house had become more dilapidated. Fenced lot on left is the former Southern Pacific old main line right-of-way, which has since been developed.

These houses were part of a row of six houses built in 1891 by John A Whelan, a shipwright with a shop on Spear Street who also developed rows of Victorian houses as a sideline.
