Salvotti's lunchroom at 1401 17th Street was built by Giuseppe ad Hilda Salvotti in 1907 from lumber salvaged in the 1906 earthquake. In 1975, their son, Jules, sold the family business which has been known as the Connecticut Yankee since 1989. It has operated as a workingman's saloon and restaurant for over 100 years.

2014 Bryant Street near 18th Street. This small wood frame industrial building, built 1907, held the Wooden Box & Novelty Co., part of Korbel Box Co., in 1951. The Korbel Box Co., which manufactured cigar boxes, was founded by Francis Korbel and his brothers, immigrants from Prague, who went on to found Korbel Winery. The structures in this image have all been demolished and a six-story residential sturcture built.
