Yerba Buena IslandView south from Bay Cruise boat toward Aquatic Park and Russian Hill, Municipal Pier at center, river boat 'Fort Sutter' stranded on beach at left. Russian Hill in the background. Entrepreneur Barney Gould purchased the old riverboat and brought it to Aquatic Park in February 1953 with hopes to convert it into a showboat. It was beached at the east end of Aquatic Park near the rowing clubs. The boat was later moved to west end of beach where it burned on May 1, 1959.
