In March 1914, photographer Beckett was a corporal in the 16th Infantry Regiment of the 8th Brigade, posted at the Presidio of San Francisco. Commanding officer of the 8th Brigade was Brigadier General John J. Pershing and the regiment would go to the Mexican border the following month. (JB)

Julius Dusevoir, of the Durant Motor Company of California, pilots Star touring car, stock in every respect, to summit of Pickle Hill, over grades of 67%. The car was left there with lights burning at night and attracted much attention Oakland Tribune 17 May 1925] (not sure either of these men are Dusevoir)
