The wreck of the 'Aquila' in San Francisco [engraving] The Aquila sank on the night of Nov. 15, 1863 while moored at Hathaway's Wharf during a bad storm. What makes this noteworthy is that it had the parts of the monitor warship USS Camanche aboard when it sank. (PF)[The Wreck of the Aquila at San Francisco with the Iron-Clad Camanche on board.
