Sutro HeightsView northwest to Market Street Railway (MSRy) 2-line streetcar #231 with Byllesby Shield logo, in use from late 1925 to 1938. The streetcar has a sign on its front saying that it went directly to the whale off Point Lobos. This refers to a sperm whale which washed up there, amid the pieces of the wrecked SS Ohioan, on February 11, 1938. It was towed away to a tallow plant on Islais Creek on February 16, 1938. In background right, 8122 and 8130 Geary, built in 1922, still stand in 2023 largely unchanged.
