City Hall Square

City Hall Square (name changed to Marshall Square in December, 1902, now the corner of Grove and Hyde) [Leather Rose Album] In 1993, the monument was moved to the pedestrian mall on Fulton Street between the Asian Art Museum and the new Main Library. French-made cannon in front of monument was a Spanish-American war prize, presented by the Army in a ceremony on March 21, 1900. It is now in the Presidio.

Lincoln School
Elevated view southeast from near 5th and Market to Lincoln School, with Pietro Mazzero's Lincoln statue (dedicated April, 1866) in front. School designed by architect William Craine, construction began in August, 1864 and was completed in July, 1865. Taken before repairs to roof area as a result of major fire in February, 1871. Wooden plank sidewalks and street paving.
