Sunset behind Helmet Rock. "W.E. Balcom Supervisor" advertising on rock. Balcom had been appointed to the Board of Supervisors in June 1909 ran for reelection in but did not survive the August primary. Why advertise on this remote rock? The Cliff line streetcar running around Lands End had good view of it.

Eddy near Gough
View north across Eddy between Gough and Octavia. Two now-demolished mansions on Jefferson Square, 1090 Eddy at left and 1050 Eddy (after the 1906 earthquake, it served as the Olympic Club clubhouse and was later known as the Parkstone Hotel) at right. Homes on Willow Street are visible between the two. 1090 Eddy was demolished for 2 apartment buildings in 1929. The site of 1050 Eddy is now part of Sacred Heart Cathedral High School. Houses on Willow Street demolished for redevelopment. Jefferson Square is reflected in the car. Seems to be a staged photo for automobile safety.
